This is a story about four dogs. Kurt, Gert, and Jazmine are friends and Bagel is new to the neighborhood. Jazmine explores her new relationship with Bagel while validating her ongoing friendship with Kurt and Gert.
The author uses phonetic interpretation of several sounds including er, ir, and ur, as well as other irregular spellings. This is meant to assist children in learning exceptions.
In an attempt to include many of these exceptions, however, the story progresses in a somewhat choppy manner. Many of the words used are too advanced for a child learning to read on their own so plan on reading this book with your children and allow them to pick out the phonetic sounds they are learning.
