Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs was recommended by one of our readers and we were thrilled! This is a great book (for both adults and children). It stretches your imagination and makes you think “outside” the box.
Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs is a bedtime story told by Grandpa. It takes place in the Land of Chewandswallow (the name makes me laugh). The Land of Chewandswallow had a unique eating proposition. It rained food (which is another dream come true). The people ate whatever the weather brought to them. Unfortunately, the weather goes out of control and as a result the people must leave.
The book is so imaginative and I love the end (which I’m not going to give away). The pictures add so much to the creativity. The drawings are a unique style, but they are so detailed that you miss a lot if you quickly fly through the book. Give your kids a chance to really look at the pictures – they may find things you don’t.
One of my favorite pages is “Ralph’s Roofless Restaurant” where a gentleman is jumping across another couple’s table to “catch” a raining hotdog. Another great illustration is the picture of the day where it poured Gorgonzola cheese all day long (they all have clips on their noses).
Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs is fabulous, creative, and fun. This is a book well worth owning.
